Harvesting Pink Guava
The guava fruit is grown on shallow-rooted evergreen trees that thrive in both dry and humid climates. Though sensitive to cold, when the conditions are right, a single guava tree can produce 50-80 pounds of fruit per year. In certain planting zones, the guava tree will even produce fruit more than once per year, while active pruning can actually get some trees to produce throughout all four growing seasons.
Pink guava is harvested when its green skin begins to turn a bright shade of yellow and the inner fruit gives in slightly under pressure. Once the fruit is ripe, the guava tree also becomes very aromatic, which can be a clear indicator that it is time to harvest.
